Dear Eagle Ridge Academy Community,

Over the past two years, Eagle Ridge Academy’s student enrollment has increased by over 70%.  Prior to this growth, the Academy consistently scored in the top 1% of Minnesota schools for math, reading, and science since 2012-2013. In 2016-17, although we remained ahead of the state average, we took a step back from where we were before our expansion. Thus, in 2017-2018, ERA embarked on an intensive reading intervention program to ensure our students are reading at grade level. Students are not able to truly access a high quality, rigorous, Classical Education if they are not able to read at grade level.

With the release of 2017-18 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) scores, we are excited to announce that Eagle Ridge Academy has again risen to the top, not only in reading, but also in science and math. The Academy outscored our local comparison districts (home districts of most of our families) and is now in the top 2% of all K-12 school districts in Minnesota across all subject areas. 2017-18 MCA scores for all public school districts have been released and are now viewable online through the Minnesota Report Card. ERA was recognized as the 2nd highest performing school by SchoolDigger.

We met our number one goal of getting more student to read at grade level, but alongside that goal, we learned that ERA students are top performers in math and science. This true indicator that a liberal arts, Classical Education is the best STEM program!

While high test scores are a testament to the hard work of teachers and students, it is a small indicator of cultivating wisdom and virtue. ERA understands that our vision is to ensure our students are exemplary and knowledgeable citizens and there are many more factors included in that journey beyond test scores.  Test scores are a benchmark in student growth, not a definition. More academic data will be provided in our 2017-2018 Annual Report which will include subgroups of students and college readiness like Advanced Placement and ACT. This report will be available on October 1.

Sincerely,

Jason Ulbrich
Executive Director
