Grades K-2: Now is the time to sign up for the next session of Hooked on Books Club with Ms. Schlottman! 📖

The purpose of Hooked on Books Club is to help students fall in love with reading and develop higher-level thinking about stories, characters, and themes. In this club, stories will come to life through discussion and engaging activities. The group will read, write, engage in discussion, eat snacks, make crafts, and play games based on the books read!

One session is for students in kindergarten and 1st grade who enjoy reading picture books and are developing their fluency skills. The other session is for students in 1st or 2nd grade who can read chapter books. Meetings will begin the week of January 12. The Eagle Ridge Academy Board of Directors voted to expand K-12 student enrollment to at least 5,000 seats across Minnesota by 2032, significantly increasing access to a Classical education that fosters intellectual curiosity, character development, and civic responsibility. In 2026, we will take the first step towards this bold goal by opening another location in Brooklyn Center!

As we approach the end of the year, we are looking back at some of our favorite moments of 2025. It feels right to start with one of the most significant events of the year - the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2025!

On May 30, the Class of 2025 celebrated their commencement at Calvary Church. 🎓 As per ERA tradition, the junior class presented each graduate with a rudis sword, which were traditionally given to gladiators to signify the completion of their training. Speeches were given by School of Rhetoric Art Teacher Emma Conner, Valedictorians Sophia Billadeau and Theodore Hance, and Student Speaker Rayce Shields. This year marks the last year that Eagle Ridge Academy will only have one location, as our Brooklyn Center location will open in Fall of 2026. The School of Grammar held parties last Friday to celebrate reaching Winter Break. Each grade level completed different activities during their parties, from decorating picture frames and cookies to hopping across the room in penguin races! ❄️🐧 Thank you to all of the parent volunteers that came to help create magic at the parties this year. ✨ We hope all of our Gryphons are having a wonderful first day of break! #GoGryphons

Did you know that ERA now has a DECA team? DECA is a non-profit global organization for high school and college students focused on business, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The student organization prepares future leaders in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

We need your help! ERA will be participating in the District Competition on Saturday, January 25, and we have been asked to recruit judges for the competition. Can you help?

When: January 25, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Judges can volunteer for either half a day or the whole day.)
Where: Wayzata High School
Who: The only requirement is that you are more than 3 years out of high school. It helps if you have knowledge about business., but training will be given the day of the competition.

One of Eagle Ridge Academy’s most beloved traditions is the annual Door Decorating Contest before Winter Break. All classes throughout the three schools decorate their doors, each interpreting the annual theme in their own way. This year’s theme is Classical Music and Arts. 🎶 🎨

On the Door Tour Day, students from the School of Grammar are paired up with students in the Schools of Logic & Rhetoric to tour the school together. While they tour, buddies choose their favorite doors, complete activities such as a scavenger hunt, and learn from each other. Upper School students tell their Lower School buddies about their favorite subjects, give advice, and answer questions. Upper School students usually come out of the experience with smiles on their faces and a newfound respect for their teachers for navigating the responsibility of teaching while also keeping students on track!

We are fortunate to have the ability to bring different grade levels together to mutually educate and appreciate truth, beauty, and goodness together. This is one of the most joyful days of the year at the Academy. Day 2 of the Festival of Treats was even more impressive than Day 1! A massive THANK YOU again to the Eagle Ridge Academy PTO and the families that donated to this year's celebration. Thank you to our thoughtful Eagle Ridge Academy PTO for organizing this year's Festival of Treats! FoT is an annual tradition stemming back 18 years. Led and organized by our PTO, families donate treats to shower staff with love and appreciation during the last week of school before Winter Break.

Thanks to the generosity of our families and the time and energy of the PTO, teachers and staff were gifted a large variety of sweet treats today. CIPHER (Citizenship, Integrity, Perseverance, Honor, Excellence, Respect) is more than a motto, it’s what we strive to follow in our actions with fellow Gryphons.

The Schools of Logic & Rhetoric hold monthly Pillar Assemblies in which six students from each grade level in the Schools of Logic and Rhetoric are recognized for displaying CIPHER throughout the month. Each student is nominated for a Pillar Award by one of their teachers, who writes a short paragraph describing how the student exemplified their pillar, which is shared with the student body.
