Happy Give to the Max Day 2025! Give to the Max is a statewide outpouring of support for thousands of nonprofits and schools across Minnesota. Our goal is to raise more than $1,500 today to replenish play equipment for students of all grades, and we need YOUR help. Join the entire community by pledging your support here before midnight: https://www.givemn.org/story/003buf. 🏀🏈⚽🎾
From our youngest kindergarteners to our high school seniors, every student deserves the chance to stay active and have fun during recess and lunch. Over time, balls deflate, jump ropes break, and board games lose pieces—so replenishing this equipment is essential to keeping playtime safe, active, and enjoyable for everyone. Believe it or not, about 20% of our balls get kicked over the fences and into the ravine each year. While it’s all part of the fun, it means we regularly need to replace equipment that can’t be recovered until the seasons change. Your support will help us keep playtime going strong for every student.
Thank you for helping to keep classroom resources in place by providing the equipment our students need to stay active and have fun this Give to the Max Day! #GoGryphons #GivetotheMax #GTTM25

With monthly Pillar Assemblies and Gryphon Gold, individual School of Logic students are recognized for modeling the Eagle Ridge Academy pillars. Beginning last year, the Logic team started bringing students together to achieve a common goal, which led to the Logic study halls that best embodied the pillars being invited to participate in fun Gryphon Games each quarter.
This month for the first time, the Logic grade-level Houses that earned the most House points in September and October earned Gryphon Games time. While Team Pulchritudo 💚 earned the most House points across grade levels during this past tracking period, fifth graders from Probitas 💛 and sixth and seventh graders from Veritas 💙 earned the most grade-level House points and were invited to take part in Friday's Gryphon Games. During these Gryphon Games, students competed to swing tea bags hanging from ball caps onto their hat brims, played "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Plate", and balanced Starbusts on a craft stick in their mouths while turning in a circle. Laughing at all the silliness and cheering on peers was a perfect way to wrap up the week. Great job earning House points, Gryphons. See if you can beat your totals during this tracking period! #GoGryphon

At this month's meeting, we will discuss the idea of Rigor vs. Vigor. Rigor is a word that is often thrown around in education. Should it be what we strive for as parents looking for the best educational fit for our child? What would the ideal learning environment to foster a love of learning look like? Take some time to read this short article by Christopher Perrin: https://classicalacademicpress.com/classical-education-rigorous-or-vigorous/. We will discuss this topic together around the fireplace during the conversation hour. #GoGryphons

Eagle Ridge Academy recognizes Veterans Day each year. Part of the Eagle Ridge Academy vision statement is that Eagle Ridge Academy will offer an academically rigorous, time-tested, Classical liberal arts curriculum that fosters an appreciation for the United States of America and her unique role in the world. It is important that Eagle Ridge Academy students understand what it means to be a Veteran and to honor the selfless sacrifice that so many have made for our freedoms.
Grades 2-12 attended Veterans Day assemblies in the ERA Auditorium in honor of the holiday, and kindergarteners passed out flags to Veterans who attended the assembly. We welcomed Mr. Robert Sommers, brother of School Librarian Mrs. Sommers Tillotson as our special guest speaker at this year’s assemblies. Mr. Sommers served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1986-1995 and 2002-2014, for a total of 21 years.
Assemblies also included a performance of the Armed Forces Medley and National Anthem performed by the Eagle Ridge Academy Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Ms. Maggie Shirley. The Armed Forces Medley is a patriotic compilation of the official songs for the branches of the U.S. Military, which typically includes the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. School of Rhetoric senior Michael W. announced the branch of service each song represented. Watch the performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pP8E75yRNto. Assemblies also included a reading of the Gettysburg Address by School of Logic eighth grader Sarah A. Watch the reading here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpdE5J32vqw.
Thank you to all our performers, speakers, and organizers that helped us celebrate Veterans Day at the Academy today, and to all the Veterans in the Eagle Ridge Academy community and beyond – we thank you for your service.
P.S. Haven't signed up for a winter activity yet? Grades K-12 winter activities registration is still open here: https://era3075a.cf.affinetysolutions.com/?p=3249. #GoGryphons

Great Minnesota Schools brought more than twenty community and organizational leaders to tour the facility, visit classrooms, ask questions, and learn more about the Academy. Like the potential partnership with Northside Achievement Zone, this potential partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to serve the whole child and strengthen the broader community.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and trust as we continue to pursue our mission of providing an excellent Classical education to more students across Minnesota. Mrs. Mellgren Holm hosted a Gryphon Conversation on Expansion on October 29. Winter season has begun. The Winter Sports Eligibility Meeting for grades 7-12 will be held in the Eagle Ridge Academy Auditorium TONGIGHT, November 5, at 5:30 p.m. Families are required to attend one eligibility meeting per year. During the meeting, Activities Director Sean McMenomy will review MSHSL bylaws and ERA policies, provide an overview of the coming winter season, and introduce some of the winter coaches. There will also be time for Q & A. Please plan for 40-60 minutes. #GoGryphons

During el Día de Los Muertos, the spirits of the dead are believed to return home and spend time with their relatives. To welcome them, families build altars in their honor that mostly include yellow marigolds, candles, photos of their deceased loved ones, cut tissue-paper designs, and food and beverages offerings.
Students presented what they learned about the holiday during class. Presentations are still on display in the lunch room and in the School of Rhetoric commons upstairs if you'd like to get a closer look at these intricate student creations! #GoGryphons
