Thumbs up for a great first day of school, School of Grammar Gryphons! 👍 This year is historic as it marks the opening of Eagle Ridge Academy of Brooklyn Center.

It was fulfilling to finally see the classrooms filled at our new school. Thank you to everyone in the Gryphon community for making this moment possible.

👋 It's #NewStaffWelcomeWednesday! This week, we're introducing you to Kalli Schmidt, who joined us this month as a Classical Enrichment Specialist. Mrs. Schmidt earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and has spent the past 5 years teaching at Agamim Classical Academy.

"After working for another Classical charter school, I absolutely fell in love with the Classical Teaching Model! Everything I have learned and seen about Eagle Ridge has been so positive and inspiring, and I cannot wait to be able to be a part of this amazing community," shared Mrs. Schmidt.

When she's not at school, you can find her spending time with her husband and cat Thor (fun fact - Thor is a girl!), or preparing for the arrival of her first baby (also a girl!). She also loves taking trips to baseball stadiums, teaching recreational and competitive dance, and reading. We are excited that Mrs. Schmidt has joined the Eagle Ridge Academy community! 🎉 #GoGryphons

At Eagle Ridge Academy, we follow the pursuit of Veritas, Probitas, and Pulchritudo, identifying in Latin the central tenets of our school: Truth, Goodness, and Beauty. Over Spring Break, we asked families how they were pursuing these tenets outside of the classroom. School of Grammar Gryphon Yuvin spent his spring break in Orlando, where he appreciated the beauty of the beach and sunshine while also searching out truth by learning about the animals at SeaWorld and Gatorland. #GoGryphons #ClassicalEducation

👋 It's #NewStaffWelcomeWednesday! This week, we're introducing you to Court Weck, who will be joining us this August as a School of Rhetoric Grade 11 Humanities Teacher. Ms. Weck graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA and MA in History, and then from North Dakota State University with a degree in Secondary History Education. She has taught grades 4 through 12, and even taught at a few colleges over her many years of teaching History, Geography, Spanish, Reading and English in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois.

"I was looking for a school for my girls that mirrored my own experience at a college prep school, and I was ready for a new state adventure. I found Eagle Ridge online… A culture of learning? Latin? Small class sizes? Happy teachers? Swords at graduation? Yes please!!!! When I saw they were looking for a Social Studies/Humanities teacher, I applied the next day.” shared Ms. Weck. “I am so excited to share my love of learning with students as we read amazing books and place them in a larger historical world context. Let’s do this!”

When she's not at school, you can find her spending time with her family who include Rich (husband and mathematician), Freya (6th grade at ERA), Solveig (4th grade at ERA), and 2 Goldendoodles (Coco and Biscuit). They can usually be found at a Girl Scout camp, a softball field, a dance studio, playing music together, or reading as much as they can. Ms. Weck enjoys reading, nature and travel… preferably a combination of the three. She’s on a mission to visit all 50 states by age 50 (she’s at 42 so far!) and all 7 continents by age 70 (4 more to go!). She also likes to build epic play structures out of wood during her summer breaks… play sets, forts, decks, stages… she says it is LEGO for grownups! She’s also always practicing Spanish and German too, or attempting to sing along to musical soundtracks. We are excited for Ms. Weck to join the Eagle Ridge Academy community! 🎉 #GoGryphons
