Who is Friends of Eagle Ridge Academy?
Friends of Eagle Ridge Academy (FERA), a certified 501(c)(3), is the funding entity for Eagle Ridge Academy (ERA), whose sole beneficiary is ERA. FERA’s mission is to create and sustain the financial health of ERA by creating short- and long-term funds, ensuring the future of ERA for generations to come.
Areas of support focus on student scholarships for high school graduates, department needs, short- and long-term capital projects, facility improvements, conferences and professional development for faculty and staff, and endowment funds.
FERA exists to:
- Support Eagle Ridge Academy’s mission and vision.
- Build long-term endowment for Eagle Ridge Academy
- Create a framework for Charter schools across the nation to assist them in becoming less dependent on state funding.
- Fund Eagle Ridge Academy’s initiatives with philanthropic support
Why does Eagle Ridge Academy need funding?
Eagle Ridge Academy (ERA) is funded through general education revenue from the state-based open enrollment, which every public school receives. We receive 10% through federal programs. Unlike traditional public schools, public charter schools do not have the option to increase revenue from taxpayers through bond or levy referendums, which means we receive 30% less per student than traditional public schools.
To sustain the Academy into future generations, provide critical equipment, enhance curriculum, update existing programming, make facility improvements, and offer a competitive compensation plan to our teachers and staff, we must raise funds to close the funding gap.
Funds are raised at Eagle Ridge Academy through several areas of outreach:
- Corporate Partnerships
- Matching Gift Programs
- Individual Giving
- Employee Giving
- Give to the Max
- Major Gifts
- Capital Campaigns and Year End Appeal
- Volunteer Match Programs
- Miscellaneous programs such as SCRIP, AmazonSmile, Microsoft Rewards, etc.
The generosity of the community has raised more than $1 million to help fund:
