Director’s Purpose:
Theatre is about exercising and expanding students empathy and understanding of those around them to make them more confident and well equipped to be citizens of our world.

We are proud to be offering two distinct options for participation in drama this year:

  1. Fall Film Festival

    Directing Instructor: Mr. Gabriel Berg

    Festival Rules:

    • Films that are 60 seconds to 15 minutes in length
    • Films must be able to be viewed by an ERA audience in the lower school
    • Student teams of 1-10. Staff teams are unlimited.
    • Registration of $12.50 per person (staff exempted).
    • Festival to be held online with potential for an outdoor showing.
    • Grand Prize winner receives their films poster in the lobby outside the auditorium and $100 award (staff exempted)
    • Judges to be determined
    • Registration is open and closes September 25th

Weekly Monday meetings with Mr. Berg for guidance, acting/directing instruction and additional technical film support.

  2. Roadhouse In Arden A Comedy Written By: Philip Moeller

Director: Ms. Michels. Assistant Director: Ms. Bixby

Registration/Requirements: Grades 7-12, comfortable working in a group of 25 people outdoors, using physically distant practices, available for scheduled rehearsals/performances, selected cast/crew must submit registration form/fee no later than the start of our first rehearsal, registration fee $100 and applies to all cast/crew.

Virtual Auditions: Saturday, October 3rd TIMES: TBD

Students can sign-up for a 5 min time-slot on the door to the auditorium. Some monologues will be posted next to the sign-up. Students are expected to select and prepare one of the monologues for their audition. Everyone must fill out an audition form and turn it into the “ROADHOUSE IN ARDEN” box located outside the Activities Office prior to 3:30pm on Friday, October 2nd. A link to the virtual auditions will be sent to students the night before auditions. Virtual auditions will begin with a large group meeting, then students will wait in a virtual waiting room for their allotted time-slot.

Special Notes: We are keeping the size of the cast/crew and audience small. If there is enough interest among students who audition to fill a second cast/crew, we will do so. The audition form will require all students to indicate which set of dates they are available. If there is bad weather on the day of the show, we would move the performance inside ERA’s auditorium and distribute a video link to families so they can watch the play from home. (Possibly Live)
